A Borrowed Garage and a Dream

In the fall of 2007, we had a problem. 

We needed to make a ton of shirts for a campus ministry we were part of, but didn’t have the money to have them printed.  Then something awesome happened.  Someone gave us screen printing equipment!  So a friend of ours let us use a garage to put our stuff in, and we began to print our first shirts.  We were able to make our shirts just in time for the beginning of the school year.  Problem solved.

Something happened on those hot days working in that garage.  An idea was born.  We thought of the parable of the talents in the bible.  We had been given something, but what would we do with it?  Would we just use it for ourselves, or figure out a way to help others?  That was the question we had to answer, and that is why Purpose, Inc. was born.  We had this crazy idea that we could create a company that gave more profit than it kept.  Yes, crazy, we know... but we were crazy enough to try.

Try, we did,  and soon word of mouth began to spread and we were printing more and more shirts and giving more and more money!  We ended up moving 3 times since then and have expanded and restructured our operations to accommodate the demand.  We are excited about the future and most of all, we are excited to give.  Our company is built on one simple but strong foundation.  It is better to give.
